Easy

Was wondering if your already a CNA is it easy to get in nursing school.

It's never "easy" to get into nursing school. It requires a heck of a lot of hard work just to get that far.

Being a CNA may improve your chances of being admitted, but grades/GPA are really the big deciding factor. Admission committees know very well that just because someone is a good CNA doesn't mean they will make a great nurse. They have to have the academics to back it up.

I agree with Coffeemate. It is never "easy". Also, some colleges don't even care if you have your CNA, and some require you to have it before you can even apply.

CNA cert/ pass the patient care skills test are requirments for the program I'm in. In class, it's readily apparenent who has time on the floor or not and those who do have a definite advantage in a lot of ways. Community colleges who give everyone admission into the program (given successful pre reqs) don't have committes who judge based on grades etc. They can still be hard to get into and often have long wait lists.

Whether a CNA cert is required or not, it is great experience to have while you are on the wait list or in classes. But no, it doesn't increase your chances of getting in.

Thank for the feedback ladies. I was just curious and you guys answer was very helpful.

Wherever you are you're really lucky that community college still accept everyone, around here it is all based on GPA, entrance exams, and how many credits you've completed.

My school still requires more than just a body and a pulse :) They do say they accept everyone and that is true... but there are a lot of qualifications first. There is an entrance math test, a patient care skill test (or recent CNA class requirement) and certain GPA that must be met, as well as a lot of pre-req's. So while you can take as many years as you need to do those things, they will take anyone who meets it all at the end :) And when you do, the waiting list to get started can be several years long. So it has it's good and it's bad, same as anywhere else.
