Hello all! I will be starting the MSN PMHNP program at Eastern Kentucky University this summer. Anyone else out there starting at the same time or are there any current students willing to share any advice or comments?

Hello my name is Lee Ann, I am also starting in the summer for MSN PMHNP. I live in southern Ohio. Would love to share advice and comments! Have you received an email yet on how to register for classes?
also at Eastern Kentucky University
They request a photo for your ID be sent in before you sign up for classes. I have not completed that yet so I have not received the email regarding registration. Did you send your photo?
No, I never received anything asking for a photo to be sent. How were you advised about the photo? Thanks, Lee Ann
Leigh, or some reason I can't retrieve my inbox private messages--you can email me @[email protected], thanks
Did you receive the email that I sent to you?

Curious ladies, how did you decide Eastern Kentucky? I think that was one that I had looked into but did not pursue. I applied to University of North Dakota, but my transcipts got sent over too late. I also applied to University of South Alabama and that deadline is Mar 15 and I'm waiting for NCAS to verify app. They are online programs and I live in Ohio, and can do clinicals here. I have also applied PMHNP. Do you mind telling me a little about your backgrounds ? I'm just wondering if I can compare to see if my chances of acceptance to a program are favorable or not. I have been a psych rn on an inpatient acute locked down unit for 4 years which is a part of a large hospital system that treats illnesses of all types, not just psych. I am hoping they view my experiences as favorable. thanks!
No I never received it
Lee Ann,
I sent another email just to see if it would go through. If it does, I will forward the original email I sent to you.
KF28,
I have some similar experience to yours on the inpatient unit. I worked oncology for a couple of years then switched to an adult inpatient behavioral health unit for 6 years. I am currently working within the court system with adults that have a mental illness or are dual diagnosis. I have been at this position for just over 6 years. I was initially worried because I have been out of the traditional clinical setting for a while now, but I have honestly learned so much in the past 6 years. I have heard they weigh the goal statement fairly heavily but I have not spoken to anyone at the school about that. I chose them because I had heard good things initially, then I looked a little deeper and found they have high pass rates on certifying exams, their online nursing programs are rated # 18 in the country, the cost of tuition was no where near as high as the schools local to me and I found the staff I have interacted with to be helpful, interested in helping me when I needed assistance or had questions. I also emailed or messaged a couple of current students to get their input and it was all positive.

I am thinking of applying there since their deadline for fall is July. Does the University require any on campus visits for like a few days to one week? UND and USA require an on campus visit. USA wants 2 days and UND wants a week of my time. It's ok since by choosing those schools versus OU I will be saving so much money. I didn't see anything about an on-campus visit for EKU. Is there? Thanks, Kim
