I just answered another post a couple of nights ago from someone who wanted to get into a FNP program after probation had ended.
I am currently in the FNP program at SLU in Missouri and I am actively on probation at this time. It wasn't easy. I applied to four schools before I found one that would take me and SLU admitted me with open arms and have been great.
I will graduate with my FNP degree in January and wrote the BON a letter basically begging them to lift my probation early because I was afraid I wouldn't be able to sit for the boards if I was still on probation. And to my amazement, they granted my request!
It can be done, but it's not an easy road. Every facility I did clinical rotations at I had to inform them of my situation and of all the facilities I went to I only had one denied me access to do my rotations there. If you are determined, you can do anything you want to.
Of course, this was in Missouri, I don't know what state you live in and the rules may be different. SLU has a totally online BSN and NP progam so if you are really wanting to try this, you could apply there no matter where you live.
Good Luck!

I have been reading this board faithfully for a few months. I am just getting started on all this. I am trying to breathe. I am not new to recovery but definitely new to having the board involved. I reported myself after a DUI, this looks like a long road to trudge alone, I'm glad I found you guys. Has any one tried to get into a BSN program while on restriction or contract? If so what schools might I try? Just a one of a million thoughts I have had, since I wont be able to work as a nurse for like a year? Thanks!
