Duty Station Recommendations Army ED RN (66HM5)

I recently found out that my packet was made board ready for the ANC selection board in Nov. In anticipation of good news, I am trying to research duty stations. Can anyone provide any insight on good selections/request for a new 66HM5? I will be coming to the Army as a prior service NCO that is also a RN with a few years experience in Level 1 Trauma Center/ED. I know Brooke is the only Level 1 MEDCEN, but are there any Level 2? Any advice/recommendations would be more than helpful. Thank you.:)

Oh geez, I'll probably end up at Ft. Bliss (El Paso), which is where my husband lived when we met. Haha. Not our favorite place on Earth, but whatever. I requested Ft. Carson, CO, as my top choice ... hopefully there will be a need there whenever I'm ready to go!

Raki, I see you survived BOLC!! :) Welcome back!!

Congrats Lisa and thanks again to your dedication to Paramedics and RN's.

Question from a curious AF RN...

How long is the Army officer training and where is it? (3 weeks in the field puts our little "field"experience to shame!) lol.

And also... Brooks Army Med is combining with the AF Wilford Hall from Lackland. BAMC will be SAMMC. It is going to be huge and we all get to work together. I'm looking forward to the change!

All of the construction going on at BAMC, the place is a mad house. I think the total length of OBLC is 9 weeks. Seven weeks are combined all medical disciplines, and the last 2 are branch specific.

SN: I would love to be stationed at Brooke! Maybe I will get lucky...

Your background is very similar to mine. I was a SSG over 10 before I got my BSN. My first assignment was at Tripler, but due to being a new nurse, I didn’t get to go to the ER until my next assignment at Eisenhower where I got my M5. I did spend a little time in TAMC’s ER and it looked like a great place to work. Prior to heading to BAMC ED for my terminal assignment before retirement, I did 2 years as Head Nurse of the ED at RACH Ft Sill. I can recommend any of those assignments.
