Duquesne ABSN 2022

Published

Hi all!

I know it's still early for this program (deadline in May), but I was recently accepted and wanted to start a discussion forum! I really wanted to be in Pittsburgh and like Duquesne's program, which is why I applied.

Accepted/prospective students please feel free to respond, as well as current students - I'd love to hear what you think about the program!

Hi,

Congrats on the acceptance! I was also recently accepted into Duquesne's program, I heard of some other people who had gone through it, which is what made me apply. Never been to Pittsburgh, excited to learn more about the area and the program!

Hi! Congrats to you too!!

What have you heard about the program? I’ve only really read stuff on this site so I don’t have a large collection of knowledge about the program.

I personally love Pittsburgh! My boyfriend is from there (living in Boston now) and I’ve been able to visit a few times with him - it’s beautiful and it has an excellent college town feel with lots to do and see, while being affordable to live in. And excellent hospital systems!

I've heard it is a lot of work, but definitely able to be done. I am planning on doing the 16 month option just as to try and not and over load myself. Excited to get to know Pittsburgh a bit more!

Hi! I was also accepted recently. I am choosing to do the shorter program option if I end up attending! I too am currently living in MA and have never been to Pittsburgh.

Hi!! I just got accepted today, if I end up going I think I will do the 12 month program. Does anyone know about living situations for ABSN students?

Congratulations @semitchell23 and @emxoxo5001!

I think I will be doing the 12 month program as well. I am leaning more and more towards Duquesne as I look at the cost of living in Pittsburgh versus other places I have applied. The good reputation that Duquesne Nursing has is also a big factor! Just waiting to hear from other programs before I commit.

I am not sure about living situations for ABSN students @emxoxo5001, but I know that a lot of people live off campus because apartments are pretty reasonable. I'm not sure exactly which neighborhoods people tend to go to, but I assume all the ones convenient to Duquesne. You could definitely reach out to Gina (the admissions counselor) - she is super helpful!

Hi!

Congrats to everyone who got accepted! I was also accepted recently ?

I was wondering if anyone could share insights/experiences with the program? I applied mainly because they offered a $10,000 ABSN scholarship to everyone. I'm still waiting to hear back on a couple of other schools but I would really appreciate any input on this program. I chose the 16 month option.

Thanks!

I just got my acceptance! Not 100% sure I’ll go to nursing school yet but if I do I’ll definitely attend here, the 12 month. It’s the only program I applied to

@semitchell23 @emxoxo5001 @kpb23 Congrats to y'all! Do you mind sharing your stats? Also, how long did it take to hear back once you submitted your applications?

Hi! I have a 3.7 in undergrad (finishing that up this week) and about a 3.5 in pre-reqs. I heard back pretty quickly, less than 10 days after applying.

Hello! I came across this post and figured I could contribute. I was accepted into Duquesne in 2020 and graduated from the program this last July 2021 (I did the 12 month). The program was great and I feel I received a quality education. Duquesne has a wonderful reputation and I have had no problem finding jobs (although this is nationwide within nursing). I just accepted my second job (I’m going casual at the hospital and part time at another organization)! Please let me know what questions you all have and I will answer to the best of my ability!
