Dumb requests from the office

You receive a call from the office asking if you could see a patient tomorrow. OT saw the patient today and reported a pulse of 150 and says the patient is lethargic. Dumb.

You receive a call from the office asking if you could see a patient who is having severe chest pain and is having difficulty breathing. Dumb (BTW, this patient died in the ER)

The first incident happened to my daughter, she had to tell the office to call 911. The second incident happened to me, I told the office that it would be a waste of precious time if the patient were to wait for me and that I cannot diagnose anyway. I instructed them to also call 911.

Stupid should be acutely painful!

I received a call from an OT "I can't wake the pt up. Should I call 911?

DUH!!! I don't know! Might be a good idea, if the pt is not responding and she did before!

"Can you run some gloves to this client 20 miles away?" I would if I was going there anyway, but I'm not, so no.

"can you tell me where mrs..... lives, i could look here address up,,,(,that call i didn't return!!!!)
