Drug guides and diagnostic test guides.. How recent should they be?

I need to purchase a drug book and a diagnostic/lab test book for my nursing program. Is it totally necessary for me to buy the most recent editions of these? Would 2008 versions be okay, for example? Will I need to buy new ones next year?

I would recommend buying the newest year they have, that way in the end you wont be sorry if you got the wrong versions. I bought mind off of amazon! Your school didn't give you a list of the exact books you need?

I use 2008 and I've never had any problems. I'm done paying premium prices for all the new books when the changes are minimal. I didn't even open my diagnostic tests book -- we had them plastered all over our med/surg notes when they were relevant.
