Dropping out of nursing

Published

hi all,

I am halfway through my nursing program. however, everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. I am thinking about dropping out and restarting as soon as things settle down. Do you think that I will ruin my chances of graduating or an I doing the right thing?

Thx!

my husband is cheating, and i cant see any way that this is going to last. i will depend on his salary while i school. my advisor said that there is no adverse repercussions, i will just be a re-admit and i will have to review b4 i start.

I know that "stand by your man" isn't really the tune of our generation - but what about trying to make the marriage work? Counseling, therapy, whatever you want to call it.. has it been brought up? I ask both because I believe, strongly, that you can make a marriage work after infidelity - it can get stronger, even (10 years total, 3 years post affair).. and because if you 'turn a blind eye' you're going to want to stab the man in his sleep... but if you drop out so you can get divorced, you're not going to finish. The timing is never 'right' to go to nursing school...

***hugs*** - what a hard situation.

This worked for us.

If nothing else, it will help you realize that there are lots of couples going through very similar circumstances and that can be very helpful. In addition, it actually works for couples who have, at the very least, an interest in saving the marriage.

DON"T DO IT. I'm in nursing school now and my boyfriend broke up with my right before I started my Mental Health month. It was the hardest class/month of my life. But it feels so empowering getting through it. You'll be a better and stronger person when you finish. Good Luck

In the event that you do decide to throw him out on his ear, look into available financial aid through your campus (mine has New Beginnings), workforce, etc - in addition to loans, pell grants, scholarships, etc. Don't quit.
