Drop Factor for Infusion Pump

What is the DF for an Infusion Pump?

Featured Replies

it sounds like a trick question. you have a drop factor for tubing for infusion by gravity listed on the package, except it's understood that microdrop/micro gtt is 60 drops per ml.

an infusion pump is set in ml's per hour.

The pump itself doesn't have a drop factor, but the tubing that is threaded into it does and it will be printed on the package that it comes in. This is in the event that the tubing has to be removed from the pump and a gravity drip maintained. Pumps have pre-programmed pressure gradients. When the tubing is threaded into them all the clamps on the IV tubing are completely opened up and the pump uses pre-programmed pressure to infuse the fluid.
