I don't understand the "no text" dalsor's replies? Yet nicole.ashley replied? Am I missing something? Hey, don't mind me, I'm new at this..:/ Anyway-- Congrats on your acceptance! May I ask how your overall and prereq GPA's were? These seem to be the sole criteria, from my conversation with Admissions today. Anyway.. I'm waiting for transcript evaluations and hoping.. :)

Ready - Sorry about that, I had actually had planned on changing a different post, and I kept doing it to the wrong post. I had a 3.189 Undergrad(Anthropology) and a 4.0 in prereqs. I had a rough undergrad, and worked my behind off to even that out. Did you apply for fall 2011?

Thanks, Dalsor. Did you get accepted, and if so, for Fall 2011? Yep, I applied for Fall.. My overall gpa is 3.189 without incorporating the 15 hours of Micro and A&P I and II I retook over the past two quarters. (Haven't quite figured that out yet (which could explain my disappointing Math TEAS score which, thankfully, doesn't use!) My prerequisite gpa is now (per the "Easy GPA caluculator" on Easy GPA Calculator - Grade Point Average Calculator ) is 3.857. (Does anyone know how many decimal points? Would have loved to round up to 3.9 but do not want it misconstrued as dishonesty if in fact nursing programs do carry it all the way to the thousandth.. so many applicants, maybe they do??) Still need to retake Chemistry--too old and a "B" anyway--then, I will have a 4.0 prereq GPA, but still an unremarkable 3.3 overall... I read these boards and feel so bad that we are all practically apologetic about our past/overall GPA's when really they ARE good. I mean, how many of us knew way back when we were going to be competing for a spot in a nursing program? My answer is NONE of us. Otherwise, would we not have gotten our Bachelor's in nursing back then? Yep! My hunch is this: Those of us going for a 2nd Bachelor's BSN cannot possibly accurately compare posts regarding GPA's in entering other nursing programs. For example, when retaking my old science courses at a community college last summer and Fall, I was psyched-out by hearing RN program hopefuls bragging about their 4.0's when further questioning (by me--hey, they invited it by bringing it up, right? lol) that they have taken, oh, maybe a total of five classes so far! So, fellow 2nd Bachelor's Accelerated candidates, let us STAY ENCOURAGED!! :yelclap:

Haha, awesome, we had the same GPA(3.189)! Honestly, as I said, my prereq gpa was pretty good, and my undergrad was meh. I think as long as you show dedication and good work post undergrad, you'll be fine. Also, yeah, I was accepted for Fall 2011, I wish you the best of luck, and hopefully I see you this upcoming September!

Hi all,

I was accepted to the fall 2011 class and I am planning on attending. I am waiting to get my official letter from the nursing department that accepts on my pre-req's. If any of them aren't acceptable, I may have to hold off another semester because it will be hard to get into any classes for this spring. So keep your fingers crossed!!

I am soooo excited about this but also a little nervous now! Now that it's finally official and real I am really happy but really scared! I've spoken to someone who's currently in the program and they said it's a lot of work but doable!

Just curious...what is everyone's current background? I was a marketing major but working in the finance industry for a couple of years now. Not having much medical background, aside from my prereq's, is adding to the nerves!

I don't see the fb link could someone send it to me also?

Thanks!!

Congrats!

I grew up working in hospitals starting when I was about 13 (dad was a hospital administrator, so I always had a summer/after school job). I worked as a radiology clerk, insurance biller, physical therapy tech, cardio-cath lab tech, lab tech, patient care tech, and even a valet. During college, decided to go a different way and received degrees in Comp Sci and in computational mathmatics and am currently working as a DBA for a software company.
