Drawing blood after stent placement.

I over heard a blood draw today where the patient told the nurse, "don't go in this arm because this is the one they used to place the stent in." Is there a restriction on using the arm for blood drawing, or blood pressure if this is a cardiac stent, but was placed using the arm? Thanks so much.

Was the pt a radial cath? Or brachial access?

If that's the case, it's only an issue to place a tourniquet on the affected arm.

no restrictions at all if we are talking about the punctre site only. bloods are drawn from the veins and acess of the cath is arterial. intermittent pressure such as bp or the tornique will do no harm on the cath acess site.
