Doubting Myself

Published

Hey everyone,

So I'm going to be applying to the universities this semester. The schools I'm going to be applying to are: Cal State Long Beach (first choice), Cal State LA, Cal State Northridge, Cal State Dominguez Hills, and maybe SDSDU. I'm feeling quite discouraged at the moment and just thinking to myself that I may not be able to get into any of these nursing programs that I want to go too because of my g.p.a. I know that for Cal State LA it goes by point system as well as CSULB. At the moment, I have 2 B's for my 2 chemistry courses, C for statistics, A for my critical thinking class, and my anatomy class as in progress but I'm confident enough that I will be able to get an A this semester as well as for the rest of my bio classes that I have to finish since that is my strongest area. My current cumulative g.p.a is a 3.21 which is very weak. I would also like to add that I withdraw from anatomy once last year because I couldn't handle two science classes. And, I read on the CSULB BSN information that withdrawing one of the courses will result in poor progress. But what if I get an A in anatomy this semester? Does that still say that I still failed no matter what? But hopefully, it can go up by the end of this semester since I'm doing very well in all of my classes. The only question is: Do you guys think I will be able to get into any of these schools with my prerequisite grades, cumulative g.p.a., and volunteer work (I have over 100+ hours)? I still have to do my TEAS.

By the way, I'm going to be upper division transfer.

I'm not sure what the exact requirements are for the CA nursing programs. Be aware that they are extremely competitive and new grads have a difficult time finding jobs in that area after graduating. Obviously, the better your grades are, the higher chance you have of being accepted into the program.

My program did not take into account my cumulative GPA or volunteer hrs. Admission was solely based on the prereq grades and TEAS score.
