Double Checking on Math Problem: Drip Rate

Published

I'd like to double check my work...

Determine Drip Rate

Infused packed red blood cells 250 mL over 3hrs.

Administration set drop factor 10gtt/mL

My calculations:

250mL/3hrs = 83mL/hr

83mL (10gtt/mL) / 60 minutes --> 14 gtt/mL

Thanks in advance,

250ml/3 hr= 83ml per hr

83ml/hr x 10gtts/ml x hr/60min = 13.83 = 14gtts per ml

Looks good to me, that is if I worked it correctly myself.

Thanks.RN_2bethatsme (cute name)..

My school uses the book Math for Clinical Practice by Macklin....

The answer key CD is sometimes off...hence why I wanted to double check. Thanks! :yeah:

For:

gtt/min= 10gtt/1ml x 250ml/3hr x 1hr/60min = 2500/180 = 13.89 = 14gtt/min

For

ml/hr= 250ml/3hr = 83 ml/hr

Same answers we just have to work out via dimensional analysis.
