The order reads Tylenol 100 milligrams orally every 4 hours as needed for pain. The Tylenol liquid is supplied as Tylenol(acetaminophen) liquid 160 milligrams in 5 milliliters. Round to the nearest teaspoon. Give____________

The only reason why this problem is confusing is because it askes to round to the nearest teaspoon. Shouldn't the answer be in ml? I am hoping its a typo. :banghead:

I got 3.123 as an answer and if I were to round it off to the nearest ml? it would be 3ml right?

Thanks in advance to those who answer this problem.

I wonder if it is asking the answer in teaspoon. If so then it is .6something rounding it leads to 1 teaspoon.

Wow can you do that? I mean if this were a real order can someone be given a full teaspoon even if the order comes out to be .6?

What would the answer be if it were ml?

5 mls is 1 tsp, so if you get 3 I would round it to 1/2 tsp (2.5)???

Still doesn't seem right. I am more confused than ever.

for ml I got 3.25 ml. To convert to tsp, 3.125/5 = 0.625 tsp. Nearest teaspon is therefore 0.5 , but math rounding rule would lead to 1 tsp. I maybe wrong though

you are preparing for a test, right? read the problems carefully. if the problem says "
round to the nearest teaspoon.
" then they are looking for an answer in "teaspoons". convert milliliters to teaspoons. there are 5 ml in a teaspoon.

100 ml/160 ml x 1 tsp/5 ml = 3.125 ml

since 1 tsp = 5 ml this would be
1 tsp

if you are confused about this question, ask the instructor if it has typos. as long as you follow the directions you can defend your answer. if something like this comes up during the test, put your hand up and ask about it immediately. don't work the problem and turn a paper in with a questionable answer.
