Hello everyone this is my first post on here, i have read many inspiring threads that have really picked me up since i failed my first time in August 27, 2014 . How do you know if you are ready to face this monster again ? I have been studying day in and day out. I finished the Hurst Remedial today. My subscription for Learning Extension also expires on Sunday :/ I did finish all the content and questions my scores range from 68-82% first attempt and 80-95% on second try .

Hi Nurselove 2013,
I am sorry that you did not pass the NCLEX with your first try. I understand how frustrating it is and discouraging. I failed my first NCLEX with 265 questions. Yes, the maximum number of questions you can ever get!!! It was the worst experience ever, so I wasn't sure if I could ever try to retake NCLEX.
Once you fail NCLEX, they will send you the mail that states how you did on each section of NCLEX contents (below/above/near the passing level). So, focus on reviewing contents you were below the passing level and I really recommend to do LOTS of questions. Before I tried my first NCLEX, I felt that I did not know enough contents so I focused on studying/reviewing the contents and not much of questions (BAD!). It is impossible to review everything you've learned during nursing school. Obviously, you must have good foundation first of all. As I said, do lots of questions and read every rationales! Also, whenever I got tired of doing questions, I watched in-class questions review videos (Kaplan). So, you can just watch/listen to them. They thoroughly go thru every answer choices why this is not the answer and why it is. Also, re-read all the questions you already have done as well over and over again. You are not trying to memorize the answers, but it helps you to identify the topic of questions, how to apply strategies (ABC, Maslow's, Evaluating outcomes, Phy vs Psy, etc.) in order to eliminate answer choices.
Honestly, I did not feel ready when I took my second NCLEX, and even I completed, I thought that I failed. Thankfully I passed NCLEX with my second try. I know you probably heard what I said from others, but I do not know what else to say really. Good luck on your next NCLEX and I hope you can pass with your second try!
Thank you for your advise i hope to be done and over with next time this is mentally exhausting
