:crying2:so i failed the first semester with a 74.2....needed a 75 to pass. i got a 97% in clinicals but that does not matter if i didnt pass lecture. i cried for a week straight and now every time i see a commercial or hear anything about nursing i feel like crying my eyes out. being on this site is even hard for me. i have never failed at anything and have done really well in school. i had a b average before the last hessi test. 80% of the class failed it as did i. the test was 2/3 of our overall grade. i worked so hard, studied my ass off and tried harder than most of the ppl in the class. i even "tutored" 3 girls in the class before most tests. the dean had a meeting to discuss if we wouls be able to retake the hessi since so many of us failed, but i got the call today that all tests were valid and grades were to stay the same......i just threw away 7,000 dollars...yes my school was 395 a cr hour. and now i have a balance of 1,058 dollars that has to be paid before i get my transcripts so i can transfer to another school.,....i dont know what to do....i feel so mad, sad, rejected, embarrased....if i cant get through the first semester how am i going to be able to et through the rest of the schooling??????ugh!!!:crying2::crying2:

out of 50, a total of about 30 failed the first semester, and as far as i know, only 15 passed the hessi...and 3/4 failed the second year, but they had to do something about that since they would not have enough for the second semester:second year.

Gosh, that is so harsh!!! 2/3 of your grade!!! even 1/2 would be too much!

maybe it is good that you can start fresh at somewhere else!!! it might be easier on you!!!

dont feel descouraged!

remember Einstain failed 3rd grade!

keep your chin up, and you have a pro on your side that you have taken these classes already! now you can go somewhere else and it will be easyer on you!

about the money part... that is paper... paper only, you do what you have to do, if nursing is your dream i do definately recomend you to flip the page and start fresh!!!

Before of making a commitment to your new school check their grading scale, and talk to an actual student!

btw, how many people failed the class?

Why would you have to transfer to another school? Why cant you just retake the semester?

I cant imagine what you are feeling right now - I truly hope things turn around for you!

Unfortunate to hear, I wish you the best! If atleast 80% of the class failed you all should get together and petition to retake the test. Don't just accept defeat regardless to the dean's decision. If all else fails you should atleast be given the oppurtunity to reapply to that school's nursing program. It appears that with you doing well in clinicals indicates you are a good nursing student. Don't let doing poorly on one test determine how you'd perform throughout your nursing journey. I can empathize with you feeling mad or sad,but by all means do not feel embarrassed. Anything can alter one's performance on a test;you probably were stressed. What ever happens, DON'T GIVE UP! :nono:

Let me first say that I am really sorry! Next, I think that is a little extreme to have 2/3 of a grade determined by one exam, unless that exam is made up by your instructors that taught that material specifically....even then its a little harsh....Something seems to be so wrong as to why so many individuals failed, and so few individuals are moving on in the program. Obviously to get into Nursing school you have to be a good student, so why would so many fail out so quickly....Maybe the instructors aren't doing their job????? Maybe they are, but the students aren't doing their job????? I would definetly challenge the call, not because of the 74% average, but because of the amount of individuals that failed the HESI.......best wishes, and much encouragement to continue!

this is the problem with nursing school, there are many capable students that they can hold and teach but are weeded out with ridiculously high standards. this is why there is a shortage

Why would you have to transfer to another school? Why cant you just retake the semester?

I dont want to transfer, but i studied all that i could for that hessi..i did all the Q in the book (325) AND went to a 2 1/2 hour review. I also did quite well throughout the semester during the tests. If i didnt pass it the first time, then im not giving them any more money to waste my time. If i could redo the test knowing what is on it now, i still would not know what to study!! i think i just need to start over......

Someone is actually talking lawsuit to get her money back so i think that something will happen, but im just going to count my losses (all 7,000 of them:wink2:) and start new. I think your right i will be at least ahead of everyone else book wise...

I also just found out the ONLY book that we went by, Potter and Perry, is the book that thye told us NOT to get at the school i am hopefully going to attend.....hmmmm

I see ... ugh. What a dilemma for you. I truly hope things turn around for you!
