How many hours a week, realistically, does a DON work? Business hours are 8-5 but I have a "bet" w/someone that working just the 8-5 is not usual and customary for a DON in a larger facility..is this correct? More than 40 hrs/wk?
40 hours what is that, right now I am covering for nights because I did not have a supervisor. By the time you put out all the fires in a large facility, there is no time to get ready for QA&A reports or anything else. It would be nice, and I do have people I can depend on to help but 40 hours just is not realistic
Oh my...don't I wish I only had to do 40 hours a week. I have awesome staff who will help out, but still till you handle all the mini "crisis's" that come up-its a long day. I sometimes cant even sit down and start working on my own stuff till mid afternoon. You know after all the meetings, floor rounds, and stand-up. I think I do around a 60 hour work week for a 59 bed facility. Dont forget the after hour on-call stuff also, just becaue you go home that doesn't mean you are off. Staff call my house all the time- kids automatically know who it is. I love my job and I love the staff I work with(which makes it all worth while), but I knew getting into it I was signing my life away!

We use barrier cream in our building. Not all barrier cream has the same ingredients, it is a generic term for many on the market. As Capecod said in hers... we do things the same in our building if state is there or not.
