Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone here has applied to the Accelerated BSN nursing program at Dominican College in NY starting in May 2013?
@Emilydanz,
I was on the same boat!! I was in the nursing program from 07'-09','10ish...for 3 1/2 years and then I had to commute because my mom was really sick I couldn't handle the workload. Anyways, the professors did not help me at all. I ended up with a C for one class...my 2nd semester of the Junior yr. They told me that I had to wait a whole year to retake the class and just take bs classes...I was definitely not up for that so I changed my major to Psych, graduated on time in 2011. Anyways, I am hoping that Dominican is different from Pace. The program at Pace was so disorganized. My clinical professors told me to check out Dominican (lol) I mean they teach at Pace but they say to go to another school?? really...????
But I do have a couple of friends who graduated at Pace for nursing and they are quite successful now, but they regret for not attending a different school. Everyone learns differently. I'm sure that not every school is perfect..
OMG! Same thing with me! Literally to the tee. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was going into my junior year so I switched my major to psych and graduated on time too! Professors there were nasty. I did not have a good experience and I too am hoping Dominican will be better and I hope I get in. I'm sure we will get in. I hear they are pretty good with acceptances.... Should be any day now.
I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope she is doing ok now. And no not yet. I will soon.... Have you taken it? I may wait to see if I get in first... I'm not sure what to do yet. I wonder if we know the same people at pace since we were there at the same time... Before you started commuting did you live on campus? @Pookie89
@Emilydanz, same with you. I'm sorry to hear that your mom is going through that. I haven't taken the exam yet. I just don't think it's worth taking it until I find out that I got into the program..
Before I commuted, I lived in North, Martin hall then my sophomore year I lived in the townhouses. You?
@Pookie89... Thanks, yes she is doing well now.
I don't know if it's better to take it now or not. I can't decide. I was told by Sister Carmel to take it and get it over with but when I called to make an appointment they said for me to come towards mid-February/March because of transfer students and stuff and that they are booked.
I lived in North and Martin too! I started commuting my last semester...private message me your name. We probably met or saw each other before haha

@Pookie89 I was there! I just graduated this past May! I hope we get in too. I previously was nursing at pace then I changed my major... That was a disaster... So I'm hoping to get into Dominican and start fresh.
