Sometimes I really dont know what DOLE org. is thinking!!! Its as if they can't see the present situation of the nursing profession!!! I just heard from TV patrol that according to them, USA is open for nurses until 2020!!! So they're encouraging students to take up nursing!!!!! :angryfire
Its just year 2007 and its really hard to get a visa! Its as if they're encouraging schools to open college of nursing....
I just hope that they're advertising suggestions on the qualitative part and not quantitative!!

they're turning a blind eye, for nursing is a major earner for a lot of them. more schools, more taxes. possibly they're not raising the salaries for us to work abroad and remit our dollars here. even if nurses' population is surging here, they'll just find a way to export them. they won't mind the lower salaries we'll be given as long as we send it home. heh, as if we are sacks of rice for trade...:angryfire

Hey, correct me if i'm incorrect. I heard them say that they are going to encourage students as young as gradeschoolers to take up nursing. What about other professions? We can't ALL be nurses here...

:madface:When I also saw the news in the local teli, I was like, what??? are they seriously dumb?! How can this people say that US still needs a lot of nurses when there are still thousands of us in limbo with the retrogression?! They are making announcements without even collecting facts and figures. Such ignorant imbeciles! That's why thousands upon thousands of new nursing graduates doesn't have a job every year because of stupid people in DOLE!:smackingf

I don't see anything bad in encouraging the youth to take up nursing...but when people encourage the youth to take up nursing for their own advantage, so that they could exploit kids' college savings and parents' money alike...
that's just wrong! very wrong!

I just read this post. So, it was DOLE's fault.

It might be primarily the fault of DOLE (or DOLE might also be a victim of someone else)..but we must realize that each and every individual who believed this also did a mistake for falling into the trap..
I took nursing basically for the same reason of going to US, which is my relatives' idea, but it was not in my knowledge that too many had taken nursing as well. If I had learned it from the start, maybe I could not have taken nursing course..but what was done is done.
Hopefully, Filipino already realized this now, and stopped pressurizing their children to take up nursing.

whether they encourage them to take up nursing it is still their decision what to take up. what if they really wanted to be a nurse? economic stability shouldnt be a hindrance in fulfilling their dreams.
yes, and also parents and relatives should avoid putting too much pressure..they should prioritize the student's preference..
