Does USA still hires International Nurses?

I am a Filipino nurse, but was out of the bedside nursing job for years (I went to BPO industry on a non healthcare account). Processed my NCLEX exams on my own through the help of the information I get from the internet, I passed my NCLEX RN last year, went back to working in the hospital as a nurse and I thought it would be easy to land a job in the US. I have tried different agencies, reviewed their initial contracts but I am not happy with it. I have a ton of questions in mind now that needs answer. Hoping someone could help.

Is signing up for an agency to connect you to a US employer the only way to land a job in the US?

Does applying directly to a health care facility or hospital in the US feasible?

Is there really a job for nurses that needs to be filled in?

Hi Silent RN simple answer USA has always hired international nurses and always will. Search posts of nurses going to USA in the international section of All Nurses, you going to have to do you homework. But as we all know do not expect to do the very best jobs in the USA when you go, you have to do what ever the USA nurses do not want at the start then work on to what you want. As you are Filipino l hear there is a long wait for visas. Good luck!

Thanks for the comment Simkale. I just find it ironic, If USA will always hire international nurses then why does it take long wait to get a visa to work there? It seem to me that they have enough supply of nurses that they do not need it badly, or was it just a problem with their immigration process ? Will do my home workon reading same issues on the international section, although I find some threads outdated.

Employers may be more accommodating if you have experience in a specialized area and also that experience is more recent

True that! to what Silver Dragon has highlighted...that could mean the difference between being fast tracked to falling back in a long queue of a few years.

' Its the way the system works even if you have everything your NCLEX etc you have to wait a minimum of 6-9month depending on your country of Birth passing. In short NCLEX means you have a chance, having vast specialised experience means you can get an employer quicker which means if you are born in a country with a less backlog immigration visas and actual migration to USA can happen sooner. This reality hits every one once they start to take action about going to USA that it is a long and difficult process with no guarantees that you will actually go.
