Does this sound like i would be wasting my time . . .

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Okay . . . im going to school this fall . . . . for Practical Nursing, now I dont want to continue on and get my BSN, but i do want to get my BS in Health Science. In your opinion would i just be wasting my time? Or would that be good for me considering i dont want a BSN?

Any feedback would be great!!!!!!!!!

:uhoh3:

I start LPN school in the next few months and I was

just wondering how may "seasoned" LPN's are on this board.

I see a lot of recent grads, but wanted some feedback as to

if you've been happy in your choice to not pursue RN.

Personally, I don't want the added responsibilities and I think I'll

be completely satisfied just getting my LPN license.

Any thoughts??

Yes, but if this person wants to get into a nursing managment position, earn a B.S.N or master's degree, having a 4 year degree helps bigtime.
In Texas, a degree is not necessary to become a nurse manager. With the exception of the DON, all of the nurse managers at my workplace are LVNs. Here are some of the managerial positions they hold...

1. 3 assistant directors of nursing (ADONs)

2. Nurse case manager

3. Wound clinician

4. MDS manager

5. Unit manager

6. TILES nurse

7. PPS manager

8. Director of staff development (DOSD)

9. The staffing coordinator is a CNA

Knowledge is power, and earning a degree is the greatest educational accomplishment in today's economic climate. However, some states are more friendly toward the LPN/LVN license, and will allow them to serve as nurse managers.
