We haven't gone too deep into nursing dx yet but does this sound about right as far as nursing dx go:
Impaired Physical Mobility r/t pain secondary to abdominal surgery??
Pt had laparoscopic colon resection. I know it's probably not the most sophisticated dx but we're keeping it simple for now.
Thanks!!

Our instructors are very picky and every nursing dx must be in exact NANDA structure:
Impaired Mobility related to pain from abdominal incision and recent surgery as evidenced by patient complaints of pain, use of PCA, etc etc....
I have Mosby's Guide to Nursing Diagnosis book that I absolutely love!

Yes, it is OK, but you can also just say Impaired Physical Mobility R/T reluctance to move

What are you talking about? newbie08's diagnostic statement is right out of the NANDA guideline! You need to look at the taxonomy yourself. I'm looking at NANDA-I Nursing Diagnoses: Definitions & Classification 2007-2008 which comes from NANDA, not something from Ackley and Ladwig.
