Our hospital has decided that the ICU's will start to follow the new uniform policy for all nursing staff beginning later this year. This is new as they have provided the ICU's(I work in a Surgical ICU) with scrubs for a LONG time, like 40 years. I'm just wondering what the consensus is across the country. As an ICU nurse, does your hospital provide scrubs or do you wear your own?

Our ICUs did not for a long time, then recently then went to an all-white uniform for RNs policy. They provide six uniform pieces to each RN every year. However, they do not launder them for us.

Can only think of one facility in Az that provided scrubs for the ICU staff.
Have always had to provide my own.
They are no longer provided in many NICUs either..........
Usually just areas where surgery is performed.

As a general rule at my hospital, we wear our own. The only exceptions are the people who have old hospital scrubs from before. I'm not sure when the hospital stopped providing them.

In my hospital, the vast majority of nurses have to buy and launder their own scrubs, and there are no rules about what color or style they have to be.
The only units that provide surgical scrubs are OR, OB, NICU, and the burn unit.
