Does your company provide translators?

Published

I worked for one of the big 2 dialysis companies. We had patients from Laos, Cambodia, Mexico, etc etc and we were not provided with translators. When asked I was told to call a family member. Isn't this a hippa violation? Shouldn't the company be responsible for providing translators? I was told the service was too expensive. That,in my opinion, is unacceptable.

Hmm - we have pts from Mexico and I have one deaf pt. The big company here does not provide translators though I have the option of using the translator line for Spanish.

In my area, there are few to no sign language interpreters.

We use the "Language Line" and for our deaf patient, we use a write on/wipe off board.
