We will be moving to California after about 6 months (I will get H4 visa), now in Finland. If I send the application for licensure by examination to the CA BON now (assuming it will take 4-5 months for them to process it) and they verify my transcripts and grant the permission to take the NCLEX, will this permission expire after some time? I will not be able to take the NCLEX until in CA (>6 months from now). I'm just worried that if for some reason the CA BON grants the permission to take NCLEX faster and it expires in something like 90 days, the time may run out before I have the chance to actually take the NXCLEX.
On the other hand if I wait until we move to CA, I may end up having to wait for a long time for the CA BON to grant the permission to take the NCLEX.

the eligibility is valid for 2 years. you have to register it within 2 years at peasonvue so that youll get your ATT which is valid only for 1 year.
Thanks, this is great news. Is there any official place to verify this information? Couldn't find it anywhere at http://www.rn.ca.gov/

Dave123 is correct. Ive a friend whose CA eligibility letter arrived 1 week ago. It's valid for 2 years.
Ok, thanks ethan_mike.
How long did it take for them to process it? Did the person have a US SSN# number, which is said to be mandatory on the application? Did it cause any problems if he/she didn't have it?
The US SSN# is a necessary requirement for the issuance of the permanent license in California. That being said, the WILL allow you to take the NCLEX-Rn even if you do not provide the SSN#, but they will hold off issuing you the license UNTIL you provide them with this piece of info. In the meantime, they will send you a letter certifying passage of the exam.
And the licensing clerk i spoke to on the phone said "it takes us somewhere between 4 to 6 months to finish an overseas application. Please do not call within 60 days of sending your application here. And try not to call too often since that contributes to delays in the system."
And you're welcome.
