Yeah, and you know about those people going home after their AOS gets denied? Its pretty disastrous...i lifted this off an immigration lawyer's website...(George M. Sabga Jr.) "One of the greatest and most persistent myths about AOS processing is the belief that if an AOS application is denied, the applicant can easily return to non-immigrant status and go on as if the AOS application had never been made. This is simply not true. If a person is denied AOS because of serious personal misconduct, they may well be taken into custody immediately and held until they can be physically removed. Even when this is not the case, and a denied applicant is not taken into custody, he or she must leave the United States within a very short period of time and will find it EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO EVER RETURN. It is the extremely rare case in which a denied AOS applicant is allowed to remain in the U.S. or easily re-enter." That plus people going to the US and trying AOS in ignorance (without the VSC certificate) equals awful consequences.

Rsmit, Best source for that info would be NJ board's website and their procedures for application for licensure by endorsement.

New to the forum!!!
Ash81, Get a visascreen certificate. Then get an employer's petition. (I-140). Read the Visascreen thread about news regarding I485 (Adjust status). Adjust status and get an employment authorization document I765 at the same time. Check the USCIS Service centers online websites for processing dates for each form. Only the Nebraska service center receives I-140, along with all the other forms riding on it, but they send most of those to Texas. Oh, and if you dont have an SSN or license yet...get those too...you're gonna need a good immigration lawyer for all this stuff.

Visascreen
Hello people. Lawrence01 posted this thing in the NCLEX-RN forum by mistake and since it hasnt been moved to this forum yet i thought it would be beneficial to all concerned if i reposted it here. Lawrence found new rules regarding filing of the I-485 Adjusment of status. Before, they allowed RN's to file AOS even without the Visascreen accompanying it. Now USCIS wants it to accompany it, or the 485 is denied outright. see this link: http://www.rreeves.com/news_article.asp?aid=413 Lawrence, I hope you dont mind...thought i'd make sure it got here ASAP. And thank you. PS...I hate the fact that USCIS is doing this...they know that Visascreen thing takes 4 months to get! It makes the AOS route even longer than before. I was planning to get my Visascreen in the US.

Anybody ever heard of CAREX CONSULTING recruitment agency?
700% loan?! can you break it down into specifics please suzanne? i knew it bordered on extortion but i couldnt stop my friends from wanting to sign up with this guy (man was a con artist even selling the fingerprint cards at US 30 bucks each!, because that was what it supposedly cost him to get them). What a load of bovine excrement! I feel bad about my friends right now because they think I'm the one trying to keep them from their dreams. I gave all my friends fingerprint cards...that totally pissed him off. I told him it was free...and that if he wanted more, he could "buy" them from me at half the price he got his from wherever that is. The sad thing is...they still dont care if he's conning them or not...dont care how much it costs...dont care if they dont get a copy of the contract...dont care to read the fine print...as long as they get there...Man, talk about selling your mother... Im thinking about calling the cops...trouble is, im not even sure if what he's doing is illegal...

CES and make-up courses
I copied this off the NM BON's webpage: (kindly check if i've misinterpreted something) Open Letter To all Nurses with a New Mexico License Dear New Mexico Licensee: Effective January 1, 2004, New Mexico implemented the Nurse Licensure Compact. This compact serves as an agreement among states to mutually recognize each others’ licensees. These states who have adopted the Compact are referred to as party states. In order to enjoy the multistate licensing privilege, the Compact requires that the RN/LPN be licensed in the party state in which he/she permanently resides. This license is known as a home state license. The RN/LPN must meet the following criteria to obtain and retain the home state license: Have current NM: 1. drivers license or 2. voters registration or 3. residence as noted on current federal tax return or 4. utility bill (s) in licensees name ...as you can see, there are "or's" between numbers 1 to 4. My friend left last year and just pays some bill to retain her home license. That's what she told me anyway. Anyhow, i think she declared residence in NM when she applied, i dont know the details...but shes actually somewhere in Tennessee.

CES and make-up courses
I actually asked that friend of mine who went to practice in NM suzanne...she's over in some other compact state...and her license is from NM...NM only asks proof of residency...and she uses a utility bill in NM for that...i believe it was a phone bill..or cable or something like that. (THere were 4 things on the list they asked about proof of residency.)

Can somebdy assure me it's gonna be alright?!!!!
By the way, jon29, i found this on the USCIS webpage, right on the main page. It's a fact sheet on immigration security checks - how and why the process works....http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/publicaffairs/factsheets/security_checks_42506.pdf You might want to take a look at it.

Where has Suzanne gone?
Yeah, and for a moment there, I thought I was the only one asking around about where you'd gone. hehehe! And yep, I concur with rsmit02, this place would fall apart if you didn't keep everything sane for all of us every now and then..
