I feel your pain!! I've been at my facility for over 9 months & I only work every other weekend. So I went to another facility that had a PRN position & the HR manager asked me why I was looking for another job.. I told her my problem & she said she may be able to offer me regular part time hours! So I say go talk to some other facilities & agencies..they may be able to offer you more hours. I don't think you working PRN at the other facility will be a problem. Good luck to you :)

I'm a first year nursing student (I'm only going part time though), and am working as a PCA casual on call. Because there are so many empty beds, I'm really not getting called in much, as a matter of fact I just today got called in for the first time in 6 weeks! I love working there though when I do get called, so I want to stay, but I'd like to have more hours and I know I won't be getting them there any time soon.
There is a home care agency that is hiring casual on call CNA's, and I'm thinking of applying there. But I don't know if it's acceptable to work for two different places? I'm not sure what I would say on my resume, how I would explain that I am currently working and intend on staying there? And do I need to tell my current employer if I were to get the second job? I work so few hours, and from the job description it seems that the home care agency doesn't have a lot of hours to offer either. I thought between the two I might get closer to what I'd like to be working for hours, and also get some experience in a little different area than what I"m doing right now.
Any advice is appreciated!
