Does anyone know how hard it is to land a federal nursing prison job?...after you have already interviewed and been and been considered for employment ...how could your credit report affect your potential of being hired?

Did you end up applying to the Federal Bureau of Prisons? I am interested, and I just submitted all of my materials.

From experience I can say that it takes a long time to land a fed position. What I was told was that the job opening is posted for a period of time and then once it closes it takes 6-8 weeks to even get a response. Once you are called for an interview it could take up to another 4-6 weeks to get the call for the job offer... I have been applying for fed positions for the last 8 months and have heard nothing as of yet. What I understand you just keep applying until you hear something. It just takes time.

I saw an RN position opening for a fed prison here in NJ. How is it working in a fed prison? I'm thinking about applying. Just want some input first. I work at a hospital that has a seperate prison unit for state prisoners only. The federal inmates go on the regular floor with regular patients.

Rats my comment just went into cyber space. i love working for the Bureau and have been in the system for 13 years. Call Ricky Galloway at 870-494-4210. He can give you tips for applying and getting hired. We still need 3 nurses here in Arkansas. I know we were hiring at the Federal Medical Center in Rochester, MN. There is a Chemo center in Butner, NC. I love it, allways something different.
How do you know which location is hiring?
Minnesota would be nice. I submitted all of my paperwork, now I am just waiting for a response.
