Hi Lucia

Why do u have to go through such agency/cpmpany when u can direct ur concerns to the Australian State Nursing board. Give u some suggestion:

1. decide which state u want to work in OZ.

2. Contact the Nursing Board of that state. The Board will provide u all the information u need so u can work in the country.

3. read some of the threads that has been discussed in the Australian /New Zealand discussion board...heaps of info there for u.

4. do ur research on how to work as a nurse in the country.

I don't mean to be patronising, I just want u to go through the right people / direction.

Hope this answers ur querries. :redbeathe

I have met a Chinese nurse who has paid a lot of money to an agency to come to britain for a totally fictitious course (nurse management). She was promised a personal tutor, working whilst studying and accomodation in the price. Her English was really really poor. However, she was working as a Health care assistant in a nursing home, in fact, studying for an NVQ that she didn't need, on minimal wages. Her tutor was based in the north of the country whilst she was placed in the south, she hardly had any contact.

She was a young nurse, didn't know anybody. She was sleeping in a room in this nursing home and quite often, whilst walking pass her door i would hear her muffled crying. She was being sent this NVQ modules to fill, and it took me quite some time to make her understand that NVQs were stepping stones towards a qualification that she already had. She would came and nestle in my arms saying she misses her mum, which yes, made me cringe, but i really felt for her and made me very angry with this 'agencies'.

It's perfectly ok to do the job yourself. Follow RNsunny's advice.

Moved to the International forum as per the red banner. Many nurses are doing it without the need of an agency. Have a read as there are a couple of threads discussing working in Australia. Depending on your training you may have to do a bridging course but best thing to do is the first step once you have completed your training is apply to the state you want to live and work

How true:scrying:

Same here, I have talked to few people who were cheated by some unscrupulous agencies who take advantage of other people. And it really make very angry inside. But again, I do not understand why some would take the bait. The communication technology is here for a reason and why can't one use it.

I understand the implications of time and money wasted by not going through to the right people. Nursing school, government websites and nursing organisations can assist in matters like that posted above. So to some of u who plans to study or learn english, do some research.
