Does anyone else get tired of the meetings?

Hey everyone. I just wanted to vent about all the meetings that go on in my department. I work in a hospital in the ED. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of self governance, i.e. self scheduling, Quality Improvement, etc. but sometimes I just want to do my 36 hours and be done with it!!!

I work nights and that makes it a little more difficult for me to get to the meetingsand stay awake!! Tomorrow I work 7p-7a and have a meeting from 9a-11a. We have 1 nurse who went into overtime because she was on 5 committees!!! :uhoh3: She was told to cut back because we were over budget.

Anyway, thanks for lertting me vent!

HATE MEETINGS!

Yes I do. Are the meetings mandatory? How often do you have them? You shouldn't have more that four or five staff meetings a year.

Well then my job just went into overkill cause we have had over 20 meetings and inservices in the last 2 months. State came in and hit us hard so I guess this is why we have had so many.

At one of my posts in the Army they institued the stupidest rule. Every unit had to have a mandatory safety and safe sex meeting at the last formation of the day every friday. At the end of the formation we were released until PT formation on Monday morning.

My First Sergeant thought it a stupid idea also so his Friday Safety meetings went like this, "Wrap that rascal! Stay safe! Dismissed!" :)

I have yet to work at a job where mandatory meetings are common and anything at all comes out of them.
