Does anyone else experience pain from standing all day?

Hi all. I've been an O.R. nurse for a grand total of 8 days and by halfway through an 8-hour shift, my legs, feet and back are killing me. I don't know if I need better shoe support, or my body is just adjusting to standing in one spot for most of the day...has anyone else experienced this? I never had this problem on a general med-surg floor, where I was hustling consistently and never felt this type of pain in my body. Please tell me your body starts to adjust. I'm thinking of buying a back brace of some sort, and getting fitted for orthotics...and I'm only 24 :'(

An older nurse (55-60) in my postpartum rotation in nursing school told me there are walking shoes and there are standing shoes. She said her athletic shoes were great when she worked med/surg and walked all day. Once in postpartum, she spent more time standing at bedside and found Alegrias better for standing. The shoes that feel like there is a tennis ball in the middle of your foot seem to be better for standing. For me, when standing, the 'tennis ball' shoes make a big difference in my lower back, hips, and knees at the end of the day.
