Hello all,

I am a med-surgi nurse with 4 years experience. For years I have been thinking about my future career plan towards FNP. However I changed my plan to CRNA these days. I am transferring to ICU floor next January 2012. I recently heard that CRNA degree not available in Master degree level after 2015. Is that true? Where can I find a reliable source about this RUMOR? Anyone knows about this????

Thank you.

Check out all-crna-schools.com it has all the info you need. Basically, by 2015 all crna programs need to start heading toward the doctorate program. By 2025, all crna must get their doctorate.

You should go to AANA.com as always this is the first place anyone who is interested in becoming a CRNA should go. It is the official organization for CRNA in the US.

All new nurse anesthetists will have to their doctorate degree to sit for boards if they graduate on or after 2025. This will be a mandatory requirement for nurse anesthetists.

The confusion between 2015 and 2025 comes in because the AACN recommended that all new APNs should graduate with their DNP by 2015. The AANA/COA decided due to the complexity of CRNA education that it should be 2025 and not 2015. Not all CRNA schools are associated with schools of nursing. Most of those schools not associated with schools of nursing will be offering a DNAP instead of the DNP.

Thank you so much for your reply. I will definitely visit and check AANA.com.
