CAN ANYONE TELL ME WETHER YOU NEED A SOCIAL SECURITY # TO TAKE THE NCLEX IN NEW YORK STATE? IS THERE ANNY STATE THAT DOES NOT REQUIRE AN SS# TO TAKE THE NCLEX? PLEASE LET ME KNOW

THANK YOU

I apologize in advance for replying, given that I don't have an answer for you.......but, I can't help but ask--why do you want to know?

I have to apologize also...have you gone to college yet?

I'm just wonder about that professional presentation of the post.

And after a long history in nursing with a stint in human resources and several upper management positions I can tell you that you cannot take any state board without a SS# and many states now require nurses to be fingerprinted.

Additionally, after several cases of "death angel" nurses in the recent past most hospitals are now doing some level of background check on all nurses (we caught two imposters and one criminal when I worked for HR in a large inner city hospital).

You need a Social Security Number to take the NCLEX.

You need a Social Security number to obtain a nursing license.

You need a Social Security Number to work as a nurse in the U.S.

Are you a foreign nurse and lawfully in the U.S.?

Contact your local Social Security office to find out how to obtain a number and card.

I am an RN from the UK and I DONT have a SS# and have already taken the NCLEX in Florida(unfortunately I failed so going again next month!) - However the Florida BON told me that they WILL NOT issue a License until I have a SS#.They will issue a temporary one for 30 days but they will only do this once..in that time you have to get your SS#.

Oh and I have had my fingerprints done too!!

Hope that helps...
