Do You Know Anyone Who Has Gotten Rid of Mandatory OT?

How did they go about getting a movement like this started?

I work at St Joseph mercy hospital in ann arbor mi. We have a policy which severly limited use of mandatory OT. I have not heard of anyone getting mandated on my unit in years. It was based on findings by the Institute for Safe Medical Practices (ISMP). You could try searching for the ISMP report. It was several years ago.

I know MNA took a legislative approach in MN. Now OT cannot be mandated if the nurse says that they are too fatigued to practice safely.

Facilities that do not use forced OT - how do they cope? Agency? Those nurses on duty just have to work short? Managers and supervisors work the floor? Other?
