Do You Get A Lunch or Dinner Break?

Published

I know that alot of nurses end up working through their lunch breaks. I certainly do, but isn't there a law or something saying you MUST take a break? I mean, an away-from-the-floor-not-taking-a-bite-here-and-there break.

Do you eat on the fly? Is it 'understood' that not getting a lunch break is just a part of being a busy nurse?

I'm afraid I won't be seen as a 'team player' if I insist on my dinner breaks (and indeed, we are short staffed) but I have GI probs and I really need to eat without jamming a bite down prn. Heck, why am I explaining myself? Don't we ALL need that?:uhoh3:

Bravo to you guys!!!

Do other co workers balk at you for taking a break? Especially the ones who pull the I-didnt-get-abreak-so-why-should-you routine?

No, most of us work 12 hours and most of us like to eat.

(I don't think Florida has any such law requiring breaks every six hours.)
