This is interesting because where I live in Ontario, on an acute medical/surgical floor, the daytime load is 5 patients and 6 sometimes in desperate situations and 6 patients at night. In long term care, the usual amount is anywhere from 32 to 42 patients, in retirement it is between 60 and 90. I have to agree that when medicating over 40 people, you are just glad they are alive at the end of the day.:angryfire What I have noticed is that there is a real difference in safe loads depending on the facility.
