Do you think there will be more nursing jobs by the time I graduate in 2013-14?

Nurses General Nursing

Right now the hospital around where I love are on hiring freezes or are just not hiring as many people as the used to... Do you think things will pick up by the time I graduate?

Thank you very much Jesse. I really don't pay attention. It's funny because when I have talked to nurses during volunteering, they have told me that the job is worth it, rewarding, and that it's nice to be able to move across fields. One of my friends that I have known for a long time has been a NICU nurse for 8 years now, and she absolutely loves it. I am surprised at how uneducated the general public is regarding the nursing profession. Thanks, again!

I wouldnt go spending a bunch of money on a nursing degree if I were you. The poster who is going for their ADN is on track. Why spend a bunch of money on a degree you may not get to use. Everybody and thier mother is going to nursing school now. You have to look at the economy. Will it be better by then, I hope so but who knows. We are in 2 wars, jobs in every field are scarce and there are no jobs to replace the manufactoring jobs that left, which forces people into the service industry, like nursing. People keep saying there is a nursing shortage but I cant tell. There are no job openings in my entire state unless you are specialized, and that takes years of experience. even if hospitals start hiring again, there is a surplus of new grads that will be there to sop up whatever comes thier way. Right now I see new grads going into nursing homes and home health just to have a job. You dont think they wouldnt jump on the opportunity to get thier skills in a hospital if the opportunity was there. I am not saying dont do it, but you will just have to take a gamble.

I wouldn't worry about it, seeing as the world is gonna end in 2012 and all! :D :lol2: :p hehe, sorry couldn't resist LOL
