hello all

i have a quick question. I just graduated this past spring, from ksu with a chem degree, my bachelors. my cumlative gpa is 2.66. i really want to get into this program. my gpa is low because i had a lot of family issues going on. I know if I can get in I can succeed at the program. I have chem 1211/1212, genetics, bio 2107/2108, i got an a in genetics, a b in gen chem 1, a c in gen chem II. i have math 1107 which i got a b in. i took soci 2205 and psyc and got an a. i have math all the way up to cal III. i havent taken micro, or a&p but i do have a few of those pre-reqs.

Any advice on things that I can do to make myself attractive to the program. Does being an alumni of ksu help my application any? how do you guys pay for the program. any advice is much appreciated.

my first major was nursing and I wish I would have stuck with it, I have always wanted to help people.

Specializes in nada.

They take longevity into consideration I dont know how much. I'm in Kennesaw's Nursing program right now and I started as a Biology major and changed. You have to have at least a 2.7 to even be looked at or they will throw your application out. So with that being said you will have to take some classes over. I suggest any of the classes you have a C in that is a pre req for the program (NOT General Chem 2 but Chemistry 1152 or your Organic Chemistries 1 and 2 for chemistry majors) you need to retake. if you have a C in anything that is general ed retake it also and get an A to balance the overall out to a B. You need to have at least a 3.5 to be competitive however 3.3 and above is looked at versus thrown in the trash. You need to do well on your TEAS which was easy I didnt even study for it. And nail the interview and you got it!

So here are some goals:

1. (Mandatory) Bring the GPA up to at least a 2.7 to even have your application looked at

2. To get to the 2.7 and strive at least for a 3.2 retake any classes that you have C's and aim for A's and if you have any classes you made a B in but you know you slacked off and couldve made an A retake it.

3. Make at least an 85 on your TEAS

4. Nail the interview and be prepared to explain why you want a change in career from chemistry to Nursing.

With that being said your looking at about a 1-2 year period of completing these tasks but before you know it time fies and you'll be in nursing school.

you couldn't have said it any better!
