Do you need to have a license in the philippines for CVS for NY State

Published

Good day! I am a fresh graduate from the philippines, a non-immigrant and is currently in CA. Although I have already been petitioned by my mother (who is a green card holder) in 2009.

I came here to apply to take the nlcex for CA and learned that if you do not have a ssn you are not eligable to take the NCLEX.

I decided to take the NY NCLEX instead since it does not require a SSN.

Right now, I am currently in the process of filling out my CVS for NY State and there is a portion that says "information about your professional license"

Unfortunately, I am not a holder of a philippine license since I did not take the NLE.

My question is, do i need to have a philippine license in order for my credentials to be verified? Will it take a longer time for CGFNS to verify my credentials? and will it affect my chances of applying for the NCLEX in the future?

I will appreciate your help Thank you very much!!

And do you also need work experience? Because there is a portion in the application form "i recently worked in the country" with an asterisk. Thank you for you help :)

If ur petition is not yet approve you need to have ur license for u to be able to take the nclex exam..Im from the PHL too, migrated just last year but i still took the NLE..petitioned also by my mom,if uve just been petition by yr.2009 u will still wait for the approval and i think it will take a atleast a year,it depends on what year the USCIS are processing now..hope it helps..:)

Hey! Thank you for your help, I didn't expect someone would reply to my message.

I was thinking if i could apply and may be take it later? Since the application for credential evaluation takes a while and the process for the application for the nclex will take time too..

Im currently filling out the CVS for ny state. :)

Does that mean that only US citizens and immigrants are the only ones eligable to take the nclex? Because I heard that you don't need a social security number for the ncelx in new york..
