Do you have Male Nurses in your OB Unit

Published

This thread is specifically for OB Nurses, I did not make this clear with the last, one, although everyone's response was greatly appreciated.

The Question this time is: Do you work with any Male OB nurses, if so, how are they accepted, by the patients, docs, and fellow nurses, and any issues they face~

Thanks

A male CNM recently joined one of the groups that delivers at our hospital. We love him, and so do our patients!

we have a male lvn in level i nsy. he does very well with the babies. he was our clerk for a while before becoming a nurse. the mothers respond well to him. he let's the breastfeeders know right up front that he will help them if they ask, but if that makes them uncomfortable, he will get a female to help them. so far so good. many actually accept his help.

(he's... umm... not attracted to women, which might help)

i did work with a nurse who used a male midwife. i was intrigued and peppered her with questions. she said he was very good, and she was happy with his care. she noted it wasn't everybody's cup of tea, but overall, he was well-liked and good at what he did.

i will say, though, that my religious beliefs are such that i feel women should care for women when such intimate care is needed.
