Hello. I am a guy and I am going to LPN school. I know that nursing is considered a female occupation. Do guys get discriminated against in hiring?

IN ALL HONESTY YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED HOW MANY MALES ARE ENTERING THE NURSING FIELD. I HAVE WORKED WITH SOME WONDERFUL MALE NURSES. I ENJOY IT. IT HELPS TO BALANCE ALL OF THE ESTROGEN IN THE HOSPITAL. JUST BE PREPARED TO WORK WITH WOMEN. I FOUND THAT THERE WERE MORE MEN IN THE EMERGENCY SEETING AS OPPOSED TO MED/SURG. EITHER WAY I HAVE NEVER HEARD ANYONE COMPLAIN ABOUT MALE NURSES. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE TURNED DOWN EITHER. YOU WILL BE FINE YOUR EDUCATION COMES BEFORE YOUR GENDER.
DONT WORRY YOU WILL BE ABLE TO FIND A JOB JUST AS A WOMAN WOULD. :rotfl:
GOD LUCK IN SCHOOL

Check out a few threads and you will find that a number of men report they have been discriminated against in ways such as:
being given the heavy lifting
not assigned to L&D if this is what they want to do
not being offered jobs because they might not "fit in"
allowing patients to request women nurses instead of them, and management going along with this
etc.
Others have reported no discrimination, or else discrimination in men's favor
So, it seems it depends a lot on one's attitude, one's specialty, and where one works.
My suggestion? Pay close attention to this motto:
