Without naming names of course, do you know of anyone who caught HIV or Hep C from a patient? I'm just wondering how common this is.

Yup i know 3 people who aquire hepatitis B and C in OR, 2 surgerons and an RN

lol mike. we do have a light green non latex glove that works similar to a biogel indicator. i use it. it is not as thick (for protection) or as visible but you can still see a breech in your outer glove if using white over it.

Yeah, know a doctor who got HepC from a needleprick. Single gloved. No eye protection.

That's why always double gloves and wear protective face mask. Be it big or small case, needles are needles, blood is blood.

how about Jacob-Creudzfelt?

Always double glove....it's your life not anyone else's! When doing any laser vaporization cases always use the thick laser masks. I have heard of Hep C cases and there is always the scare of HIV..... treat every patient as if you could get something from them. That way you should not be caught using poor technique and getting ill. Still stuff happens and even with all the protection you just never know. Good luck
