Do I want to become a Nurse in Ontario?

Published

I'm 20 years old and I've kind of always wanted to be a RPN, but I'm not 100% sure. I want to know the schedule and the pay and basically everything you would do on a daily basis. As in what do you do to patients and such. I think I would really enjoy this job, and all I need is a little push.

Please help me.

There are many threads on here discussing the duties of an RPN.Do a search and do some reading. As well the duties will vary depending on where you work. Generally you will do assessments, personal care, assist with ADLs, administer medications, perform procedures such as inserting catheters, communicate with families, wound care, communicate with other members of the health care team, provide patient education, feed, walk and toilet patients, do admissions and discharges, and of course document everything you have done all day.

I am sure others can add to this list. The schedule will depend on where you work and so will the pay. I work in a hospital and I make $28.55/hr.

i work 12 hour shift work at 28.09/hr, i did some homecare/agency nursing and was making 21.50 and the duties all depend on where you work like loriangel put it. also depends on the feild you want to get into.
