Do I stand a good chance?

Specialties NICU

Published

Hey everyone! I am getting ready to start my sophomore year of college and I am thinking about going into nursing. I will be going for my BSN. I want to be a registered nurse. The only kind of nursing I want to do or see myself doing is in the NICU. I was just wondering how many of you started working in the nicu right after you graduated from nursing school? Is it going to be easy for me as a new grad to get into the nicu field right away? I don't want to wait too long! Is this a very competitive field? Thanks, everyone!

NICU spots for new grads can be pretty competitive, especially at your bigger facilities, but don't let that deter you. Also make sure you keep an open mind during your clinicals in school. While you have your heart set on something, you don't want to miss out on your true calling just because you weren't looking. Good luck to you.
