Do I stand a chance

Published

My husband is from Scotland and wants to relocate back there in about 2 years. We are trying to get everything together for my Visa. However a friend of his told him that I probably would not be able to work in the UK as an LPN. I am wondering if it would be in my best interest to go on to RN school after LPN or if I would be able to get a job as an LPN in Scotland? It sounds like it is very difficult for a US citizen to get work there.:imbar

I am not trying to put you off Scotland, but it rains most days here and is never hot. Nursing in Aberdeen where i come from is grim i work in a trauma ward where some nights i am the only RN to 15-24 patients and the money is poor compared to the cost of living, i am only in it because i love nursing and to be honest if i was,nt in the long process of moving to the states i would have quit long ago

I trained in Aberdeen and it was a good training hospital. That said I have not worked there for a few years!Strangely enough it is not raining today! This is a great part of the country to live, apart from the weather, and the cost of living is probably less outside the City in the surrounding towns. If you decided to go down the road of training here there would be plenty of places to work as a carer until you qualified.I know of several non-UK nurses in this area who have done the same thing.
