Hi! I just graduated and am taking my NCLEX in a couple weeks, and have a job lined up in labor and delivery so I want to get my ACLS and NRP as soon as possible. I was wondering if you need your license in hand to get these certifications? I know for BLS you do not.
Please let me know! thanks!!!

Yes, you have to for NRP.
Your new job should be having you go to NRP as part of your orientation .

Your new employer might even PAY for your classes, so consider waiting till you are hired before spending that money. Nurses are not the only ones who take these courses. EMS/Paramedics and MD's also take them and of course they are all licensed, but ACLS does not require a license.

Wait till you are hired and take ACLS. Your employer will pay for it.
