Do I need Bio before A&P??

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

The community college where I will take A&P is accepting a Bio class I took about a million years ago as the required prereq. I remember nothing from the class, so would it be better for me to take Bio before A&P? I'd rather not pay the extra money, but I also don't want to struggle in A&P because I'm expected to have knowledge that I don't really have (although I am willing to put in extra hours studying A&P if necessary). Also, will taking Bio be helpful for the TEAS exam, or will study guides be enough?

Thanks for your wisdom!!

Hi there misswillow,

I think you are fine without taking Bio again. I would recommend brushing up on Chemistry if that is a weak area for you (I was beyond weak in that!) I picked up a great book (amazon.com); An Introduction to Chemistry for Biology Students (George Sackheim) which I "read" before A&PI and it did help. Good luck.

You can definitely take AP without a Bio. General bio is really about the animal kingdom and different type of flora, with a healthy does of evolutionary theories thrown in.

AP is only about the human body. Go ahead and register for the API course. As long as you study you will do fine.
