Do I have a leg to stand on??

My school bases admissions on a point system and today I received my email showing my total points for the dispute period. My points were close to what I thought they were, however I did not get points for one of the classes that I took. I took Pathophysiology at another school (El Centro) which is in the same community college district and typically has the exact same classes. Prior to taking the class, I called advising and made sure that I would get credit for my nursing program and they told me that I would get credit for it.

I emailed my dispute today for my points since I was told that I would received credit for the class. In all fairness, it is the same class....And I got an A. Don't you think they should give me the 2 points for it??? Anyone dealt with this situation before? They told me in the email that I had to fill out some form to get credit for the class, but how would I fill it out if I was told that they accepted the class???? So frustrating!!! They will take the class as credit for the nursing program, but they were just saying that I won't get the 2 points.

I am so sorry your going through this I can totally relate, this has been the clasic example of my journey to get into nursing school. You would think there would be some packet or something that gave out exact information, but instead it's like pulling teeth. Everytime I get one thing accomplish I find there is something else needed a piece of paper, another form of red tape, it was so exhausing, I swear they use it to week people out! Keep after them that is your two points and yes you deserve them if you have to fill out a "surprise" piece of paper to do it then get that paper and do it. You can all do the stuff you know about, I had so many redundant forms that didn't make any sense and were not told about until after the fact,it's taken me 3 years to get through this. I was told by an instructor I really admired, that getting your degree is not about how smart you are rather how much tenacity you have. It is so TRUE.

Yeah, the only thing that I can do is keep pushing forward. Luckily I have no problem being pushy! I sent them a fantastic email so hopefully they will reconsider!

I just applied to Brookhaven too, and got my email today. I am currently taking patho this semester online through El Centro. I noticed before registering that El Centro's Patho classes have different numbers than Brookhavens. In addition, Brookhaven calls their classes Patho for nurses, while El Centro's is just Patho. I called them before taking the class and was told it would transfer, but that I would have to fill out a special request to substitute it for their patho class. Hope this helps.

Yeah I took it online too! I didn't realize that they were different course numbers until today when they told me!! It just really makes me mad that advising actually TOLD me that it would be accepted by Brookhaven. Do you think they will just let me have the two points?? Two points is a big deal! I think I was pretty darn convincing in my email.
