Do I keep searching for the hiring/NM or leave it be?

I tried to be pro-active and send my resume and whatnot to a nurse manager after applying for a new-grad position. I called the hospital hoping to get the information after what seemed like a trillion people recommended that. They transferred me to HR who, of course, told me the manager would contact me if they were interested. It's a small hospital in a pretty small town. Do I just sit patiently and hope and wait, or do I dig a little and find the email and send it anyway? I've seen so much more job-finding success in people who contacted the NM, so I feel like I'm just giving up the opportunity if I don't try, but then again, I don't want them to throw it out if I do contact her.

It could be the facility's policy that HR screens all applicants and does not accept resumes or applications any other way.

All hospitals are going to generally tell you to go thru HR. No HR member will likely tell you to contact the NM....but it doesn't mean you shouldn't! It often is a good idea. If you ARE able to find her contact info, I'd Def email her. If not, it's okay, hopefully you'll get a call from her if your app is forwarded, but if you're able to get her email, don't hesitate to contact her.

I was recently told by a nursing manager that if she gets your name and info, she will request HR to pull the application and give it straight to her. Emailing a nurse manager in a similar fashion is what helped me get my first nurse intern job, I say go for it!
