DNP after WGU anyone?

Updated:   Published

Hi all! Has anyone applied or been accepted into a DNP program after obtaining your MSN from WGU? I'm just wondering what, if any, obstacles or difficulties you may have encountered. The grading system is so different at WGU. I apologize if this thread is redundant.

Hi Nicurn2450,

I am currently in my last semester at Chamberlain (DNP Healthcare System Track). I found the program easy, There are no exams and you will have maybe 2 research papers to complete each course. There are 2 tracks; DNP for Leadership and the other for ARNPs. The Leadership track is longer (6 semesters). The cost is about $750 per credit of which you have 40 credits. You will not get the 500 hrs or any for the MSN at WGU so you will need 1000 clinical hours when it gets to your practicum. If you work in a hospital, and in the management arena, you will be able to use your work hours to count toward your practicum hours if it pertains to your study. I found the MSN at WGU prepares you well to write the papers. The only downside is that they do not help you with finding a practicum site or a mentor, so you will need to find this on your own. Also, they charge a non-refundable student fee of $650 per subject, of which there are 12. You can always inbox me your telephone number if you need to speak with me. I will be glad to help you. I will be able to finish the DNP program in 2 years (no breaks).
